Show 2013: End of the Pier Show (Dec. 2013)

We wanted to do something a little different and so the idea of a variety show was born.  It was based on the type of show which originated in many post-war British theatres which were literally located at the “end of the pier”, hence the title of the show.

There were songs, hilarious comedy sketches and dance routines, all based around the traditional British seaside, with some “Entente Musicale” twists.  Many of the ideas for the acts came from those taking part, making the production of this show a real pleasure for all concerned.

As in previous productions, we were thrilled to work with the Saintes dance school, “Atelier Chorégraphique de Saintes” (ACDS). Earlier in the year, the ACDS created its own dance company called “Eli’Zi-Danse”, led by dance teacher Mélanie Tesson.  They made a significant contribution to the show by not only performing several unique dance routines themselves but also by taking part in the odd comic sketch alongside our own members.

There were around 15 members involved in our current production, mainly English-speaking but we also had 4 French-speaking participants, whose varying knowledge of the English language only served to enrich the whole experience for everyone.  Ages of participants ranged from 12 to 68 years.
